My 20 hour headache from detoxing!

I was reading from the Bible in the book of Daniel today about how he did not want to defile himself with the king's food and wine. He asked the guards to give him vegetables, fruit and water for 10 days. It is interesting because recently we had a guy named Peter spoke to us at church. He grew up in Africa. He told us that as a child they ate rice and beans every day except Christmas when they had Chicken. My first thought was like many, wow that would suck to eat rice and beans just one day, much less 364. After day 2 of the Daniel Fast I am having second thoughts about how blessed we are with our abundant of food. We don't have king's food anymore, but we do have Burger King's food! :-)

Twenty hours after I started this fast I got a headache that lasted from 8pm last night until 1pm today! Why is my body "detoxing" like a drug addict? It is really pretty disturbing. I am a person that does not eat out at McDonalds, Burger King etc and I am still getting tons of chemicals in my body from diet soda, and frozen lean cuisine meals.

I went to Eddie's Health Shoppe to get some protein powder that was compatible with the Daniel Fast. Most of the powders I saw had sweeteners added to them. I found Mother Soy which has no sugar added, etc. It was 33 bucks with discount and tax! Yesterday I was thinking, that is very expensive, I am glad this only lasts for 21 days! But today, I decided to look at the actual cost per meal.

2 Scoops of Mother Soy Burger King Double Cheeseburger
Protein 32g 27g
Fat 0g 26g
Fiber 10g n/a
Calories 138 450
Cholesterol 0g 95mg
Cost w/ tax $2.00 $1.30

So in all reality, it's pretty cheap to eat a healthy meal! You don't have to be a die hard health food nut to help improve your diet, just think how much it would help to replace 2-3 meals per week or breakfast every day with a healthy protein shake! Just mix in some Krema natural peanut butter and/or banana to add flavor. And in case you are wondering, after you drink it, you will be full!

21 Day Fast and no Facebook/Twitter

My church is doing a 21 day Daniel Fast in preparation for Easter weekend beginning tonight at midnight. I have also elected to refrain from interactively using Facebook and Twitter for personal use during this time so I can spend more time in prayer and reading my Bible. I will use my phone to send occasional updates/photos and my Cardio trainer updates to the page via text, however I will not be logging in to view comments, respond to messages, etc.
If you are in need of prayer send me an email biddle@websiteworld.com and I will add you to my prayer list. Also, visit http://pray.faithpromiseweb.com/prayers.php to add a prayer request to my church prayer list, don't worry if you are not a member, and you can post something anonymous.

Do people have a "Soul Mate"?

You hear a lot of talk about soul mates. Generally speaking, the theory is that there is one person you are spiritually connected to that is your soul mate. I don't believe that there is any one soul mate, and let me explain why. First, the way everything works in the world has a definitive order and logic to it. I think God made it that way for a reason. It just shows the magnificent intricacy that is explainable by no other means than a much greater power than we know here on Earth. With that said, it just does not make sense there is only one person that is your soul mate. The outcome of your life would be codependent on the decision making of another person, in this case your one and only soul mate. If you don't meet your soul mate in time, and they marry someone else first, then what? By no fault of  your own, you end up marrying someone who isn't your soul mate and it further corrupts the order. It would be mass chaos, the domino effect would take place.

One of my best life experiences was selling automobiles. I learned a lot about people selling cars. I learned that a majority of people can be categorized into a few personality types. My personal belief is that when you are finding a spouse, it is important to find one that fits into one of those personality groups, and someone that shares the same values that you do.

There could be thousands of people that have a personality type that meshes with yours, and share your same values. What makes a soul mate is God and marriage, and the two becoming one flesh. You still have your own soul, but you are one flesh.

As always, I hope this is thought provoking, and I welcome your opinion on the subject matter.

We are not born givers

I'm going to a movie screening tonight for October Baby with some free tickets that were given to me. The event is to raise money for Bottles for Babies.
I was about to leave with the bottle you see pictured to the left that was about 1/4 full. Then God started working on me. Why am I being so greedy? I have a whole Coca Cola bank full of change. Before we left, I decided to fill up the bottle with change. I am getting 20.00 worth of movie tickets and getting to see the movie 2 weeks before the movie is released, yet somehow there was an internal struggle about turning loose of the change. I'm not greedy by any means, but it's just more evidence that it's just not instinctive to be a giver. It is something that we must learn, and soften our hearts and be sacrificial.

A proper donation for those in need is below, a full baby bottle, and not filled with pennies! I emptied out the Coke bank and still have change in it!

An awesome update from the movie theater after I wrote the blog above.  We just won concert tickets for this weekend at the movie! I already made my money I donated back. God is good. I spoke to the charity executive director after the movie and she said the bottles hold between 20.00-25.00 in change, and the tickets we won are worth 20.00!

Does your life really matter?

The year is 1907. Blount County, TN has just erected a beautiful new courthouse. I'm sure there was a big ribbon cutting ceremony and everyone was wearing the finest suits. Esteemed individuals have their names etched in stone on the building and I can hear the whispers of people at the time saying, I know Will McTeer, he was on the building committee for the new courthouse!

Fast forward 100 years later. That is now known as the "old courthouse" and people pass that name engraved stone every day when they go to renew a business license or pay taxes and pay no attention to it. Most people don't know, or care about who built the courthouse.

It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life, but are we making a difference where it really matters?  There is nothing wrong with accolades, but if that is all your life is comprised of, I would suggest that it does not really matter. We all have the ability to make a difference even by doing something as simple as volunteering at your local church, or the soup kitchen. We live in a world where 20 percent of the people do 80 percent of the volunteer work. I believe some people are selfish and don't care, and others have become discouraged and don't believe what they could do matters.

Matthew 6:20 says to store up treasures for heaven, but how many of us are guilty of doing just the opposite? It's real easy to do, worrying about right now, instead of eternity. I know I have been guilty!

Ecclesiastes 1:11 NLT
We don’t remember what happened in the past, and in future generations, no one will remember what we are doing now.

One day, we will all find out if our life really mattered. God isn't going to care if you graduated from college, how much money you made, or if you had a vacation home. There isn't anything wrong with those things, but if that is all you have to show for in your life, I would encourage you to do something for someone other than yourself or your family.

Use your life to make a difference in someone else's life. That is what really matters!
