Living Life With No Regrets Debt Reducton

I'm about to say something you already know in hopes that you will take action instead of agreeing and living life the same as always. Everyone knows that time flies, and everyone has been told by someone to value the precious time you have with your children while they are at home. ( unless they are 30 and at home haha)

Unfortunately, many people have voluntarily made them themselves slaves to work by purchasing and racking up credit card bills, purchasing or renting homes that are too expensive and often times purchasing multiple cars for the family and getting in into massive amounts of debt. Sadly, many people don't realize trading in that old car that was paid for to save 600.00/yr in fuel isn't helping them save money after figuring in increased insurance costs, interest and depreciation. You may be saving at the pump, but it doesn't offset the overall cost of ownership.

I would not trade the time I had during the day to eat lunch with my son in elementary school for any material possession.  All the baseball, basketball practices, going to the park, attending school functions, being home during the summer, all memories I have for a lifetime. Now he is in high school and it's not exactly cool to eat lunch with your Dad at school! Once they get older it's too late, you do not get a do over.

Debt is a problem that affects all income levels.  No matter how much money you have, you can still borrow enough to get in debt. Example, a 20 million mansion in Miami when you make 2 million a year.

If you are blessed financially, try thinking against the grain. Buy an inexpensive house and a used car and save/invest your money and more importantly take control of your TIME. Use your finances to help someone besides your family. One day when you are dying, you are not going to wish you had worked more and made more money or got that job promotion!

If you are a single parent or low income and struggling to make ends meet, this blog isn't about you. We all must work, but we should not voluntarily enslave ourselves to the bank as many do to impress people or fuel our natural selfish desires. When I was in my 20's I saw credit reports of various income levels and many Americans have unnecessary self inflicted debt problems! A lot of people use the excuse they can't afford to donate money or tithe but it's often a result of poor selfish decisions they've made.

Some great verses that relate to the blog:
The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender. Proverbs 22:7

Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. James 4:14

Please take a moment to +1 my blog! Thanks

  1. Thanks for this enlightening post. You are right. The key is to strike a balance between family and work. Of course, we want to provide for our loved ones but it should not be at the cost of losing the time we spend with them. Unfortunately, there is no single solution that would apply to all families.

  2. Season, it's true that there's no solution in fixing every problem of every family, which is why a financial advisor could help. For one, an advisor can help you set realistic goals. Then by examining your current financial situation, you and your advisor can create a comprehensive plan to achieve those goals. This would especially be helpful if you don't have time to manage your wealth while balancing your family and career.
